We F-I-S-H-E-D Aquilla yesterday…   boy was it hot.

It was nice when we hit the water, but by the time we left, we were dripping in sweat.

The conditions at our 6:30 a.m. launch:

  • Air Temperature:  76°
  • Skies:  Clear
  • Wind: 2 to 5
  • Water Temperature:  85°
  • Water Clarity:  Good… 2 feet or so
  • Water Level:  537.38 or a little less than 1 1/2 inches below normal pool level of 537.50

Yep, we were definitely just fishing…  not catching.  I think we each had one bite and we both thought those were bream based upon the feel.  We fished top water and T-Rig, the bites only came on the T-rigs.  We fished the same areas that we had last Wednesday, plus more.  We fished the dam area, the hump, and snake island as well as some of the main lake points.  We just did not find any  fish.  We really thought we were going to find some fish today and that with the wind being down, they would be easy work.

We did get some pretty good photos though.  Maybe you will like these:

Fishing the hump

There were another 3 or 4 boats bass fishing as well…  did not get to visit with any of them to see how they did.  These folks sat on the hump for a good while.  We checked it out after they left and we could not get a bite.

Dairy Hill Ramp

There were actually 5 rigs on the ramp when we returned at 10:30.  There was one additional rig in the parking lot behind the rest room.  A couple of those folks were fishing for white bass.  I actually caught one white on a Pop-R, but the fish was no longer than the lure….  pitiful!

It warmed up to 86° by the time we left.  Without any appreciable wind, it was pretty dang hot.

There were some other areas we would have liked to fish, but it was just too hot to be out there for us old folks.
