Aquilla – 6-11-2015

Here are a couple of photos of the Dairy Hill Ramp at Aquilla 6-11-2015….   The Corps of Engineers has the ramp and big parking lot locked.

I have this tidbit from a poster on the Texas Fishing Forum:

  • A guy from the COE told me it would be around two weeks after the lake goes down. He said the reason is to keep from breaking the boat ramps from the waterlogged soil. The lake should open by the end of June or early July. That is if we don’t receive any more heavy rains.

What I know is that the lake looks great.. you just can’t get in.  The lake is 539.98 or 2 1/2 feet high.

Whitney is currently 551.56 or 18 1/2 feet high.  The rumors I hear about Whitney generally say it will not be open until late July or early August.

Donno…  Just rumors, not many facts about the openings.

Having fished most of my life and Whitney Lake specifically for 20 years, I know every stump, sand bar, rocky bluff, and sink hole on Whitney, well some of them anyway. I could probably fill a semi-truck with the 5+ pounders caught on this beautiful lake. My job is to report to you on some of the best black bass fishing in the state of Texas.
