Lofers Bend West  Compound is an overnight camping area with lots of great camp sites and facilities.  There are campsites on the bluffs overlooking the lake which are some of the best scenic campsites on the lake.  The two lane boat ramp is in a small cove which somewhat protects it from the winds from the main lake.  It is a standard Corps concrete ramp with an adjustable boat dock.  The boat launch fee is $3.00.  The Corps hours are the standard 8 am to 10 pm with the gates opening at 6 am.  You can leave after 10 pm., but not enter.  The Lofers Bend West Compound is open only from April 1st until  September 30th.

These photos were taken on two different dates, August 22, 2011 and February 4, 2012. The lake level on August 22, 2011 was 522 feet or 13 feet low. The February 4, 2012 photos were taken when the lake level was 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low. As of March 14, 2012 the lake was just a little over normal pool of 533 feet. You can use your judgment to estimate the ramp usefulness at the current time.

Ramp at 13 feet low or Lake Level of 522 feet:

Currently, it is out of the water at the 522 foot level.  The lake would need to be in the 528 range.

Ramp with the lake at 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low.

This is a photo of the ramp at normal pool state.
