Uncle Gus’ Lodge and Marina is a privately owned marina on the west side of the lake on Rocky Creek. This is a full service marina. It features: cabins, camping, RV sites, boat slips, boat rentals, a boat service shop, as well a boat dealership.
It has a nice two lane concrete ramp. There seems to be ample parking, but not a paved organized parking lot. Access to the area is controlled. The launch fee is $5.00.
The marina is an older facility, but it works. Access to the lake from the ramp is through the marina.
These photos were taken on two different dates, August 22, 2011 and February 4, 2012. The lake level on August 22, 2011 was 522 feet or 13 feet low. The February 4, 2012 photos were taken when the lake level was 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low. As of March 14, 2012 the lake was just a little over normal pool of 533 feet. You can use your judgment to estimate the ramp usefulness at the current time.
Ramp at 13 feet low or Lake Level of 522 feet:
With the water level at 522, the access will be fine until the water level drops another 18 inches and then boats will not be able to negotiate the marina. With the lower water levels, the marina has markers to guide boaters through the shallow water.
Ramp with the lake at 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low.
The ramp and access to the lake is great at this level.
These last photos are Rocky Creek inside and outside Uncle Gus’ Marina.
We have found the folks at Uncle Gus’s Marina to be very “fisherman friendly” and a number of tournaments operate out of the facility. We highly recommend it.
