White Bluff Resort & Marina is located a few miles north of Whitney off FM 933. You can’t miss it, it has small ponds on both sides of the road as you enter the large lime stone gate area. The entire 3800 acre resort area is gated and has a private security staff.
The Marina is 5 miles from the gate. You actually need to obtain a map of the resort in order to find it with out driving around…, but I am sure that they will provide you one at the gate along with an appropriate pass. You will have to stop at the gate and get a pass to gain entrance. The Marina and the boat ramp are open to the public. The Ramp is a two lane ramp and is first class as are the facilities there. Launch fee is $10 per day. There is a seasonal boating store called the Marina Market which has plenty of on the water supplies as well as gas (The Marina itself also sells gas).
These photos were taken on two different dates, August 22, 2011 and February 4, 2012. The lake level on August 22, 2011 was 517 feet or 16 feet low. The February 4, 2012 photos were taken when the lake level was 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low. As of March 14, 2012 the lake was just a little over normal pool of 533 feet. You can use your judgment to estimate the ramp usefulness at the current time.
Ramp at 13 feet low or Lake Level of 522 feet:
These photos were taken December 15, 2011 with the lake down about 16 feet. As you can see, the ramp is out of the water and not functional at this point. According to the White Bluff General Manager, Fred Molsen, the lake would have to come back up about 5 feet before the marina is usable. Even at that, I would suggest you note those concrete blocks out from the ramp. They are the “anchors” for the boat slips. Clearly, you need to pay attention to them on the way into and out of the marina. The marina has 102 active slips, and they rent for around $1800 a year with residents getting first priority on them. I think prices are subject to change on all the facilities so be sure and check the web site or with the guard at the gate.
Ramp with the lake at 527 feet 7 1/2 inches or 5 feet 4 1/2 inches low.
We do not have pictures of the marina and ramp at this level. We will post them when we get them. But, rest assured the ramp and marina are functional at this level.
The interesting thing about this facility is that it is in a private resort. There are two hotels on the property with 78 rooms. This is a picture of one of the hotels which over look the lake.
There are also one and two bedroom condo’s that can be leased as well as two RV parks with 70 sites and a primitive camping area that can be rented. This is a photo of one of the RV areas.
There are two restaurants in the Resort. The Trophy Grill can give you a Texas sized meal for a economical price. The food is good there. There is also a “fine dining” restaurant, The Light House which over looks the lake. You might want to bring along your check book for that one as well as your dress clothes. This is the Light House.
On the whole, White Bluff Resort & Marina is the first class facility on Lake Whitney. If you are looking for a secure, first rate facility to spend some time with excellent access to the mid-lake area of Whitney Lake you couldn’t go wrong with White Buff. We highly recommend it.
